Its pineapple-shaped body, crafted from laminated mango wood, is both aesthetically pleasing and sonically impressive. The notes are full-bodied, resonate for a long time and retain all their clarity. It’s an instrument with real character – it’s not just a pretty face! The playability is just as impressive. With a 35 mm nut width, the neck is particularly comfortable, offering immediate playing comfort. The build quality is excellent, the finish is meticulous, and the instrument is magnificent. You can tell it’s been thoughtfully designed. Special mention must go to the Grover tuners: they’re precise, reliable and hold their tuning perfectly. Even when the strumming gets really intense, nothing budges! And indeed, this little Ohana copes very well with energetic playing. The sound never gets muddled, retains its presence and maintains excellent definition, even when pushed to the limit.

Whilst many models feature doubled strings an octave apart, the Taro Patch pays homage to a very traditional style of Hawaiian ukulele and opts for a unison tuning. A distinctive feature that makes all the difference: the paired strings vibrate together, giving the instrument a full, surprisingly spacious sound, with that delightful sensation of built-in natural chorus. With its solid mahogany body, the Taro Patch delivers a warm, enveloping, round and woody tone that is deeply organic.
