Mahogany has been used to make ukuleles for over a century. It offers warm, mellow tones, and may not be suitable when you want a bright, sharp sound, but so beautiful in "jazzy" tones. These ukuleles are made in Java, Indonesia, and benefit from the expertise of the Ko'olau/Pono workshops, true pioneers of the ukulele in Hawaii. We've had the pleasure of talking to these enthusiasts and are delighted to offer you their instruments in our shop.

The sound is rich, round and clear - this ukulele is simply excellent!

The solid spruce top tempered by the laminated mahogany back and sides creates a sound that is not only bright and punchy, but also rounded with warmth.  A flat profile neck, compensated saddle for accurate intonation, fluorocarbon strings and a deluxe bag. The Iris is at least as good as the famous premium model from which it was loosely based.

These solid Hawaiian koa models are harmonically rich, with plenty of body and consistency in the sound, as well as plenty of brilliance and, at times, chime-like resonance. This makes them a versatile instrument, rooted in tradition yet resolutely modern.

It's a nice instrument with well made finishes, the sound is quite correct and similar to what we are used to hear in this price range.

Made from laminated sapele wood, it offers a warm, pleasant sound and exceptional playability. The instruments are well finished, attractive and robust, and are an excellent introduction to the world of the ukulele... all at an unbeatable price!
