Mahogany has been used to make ukuleles for over a century. It offers warm, mellow tones, and may not be suitable when you want a bright, sharp sound, but so beautiful in "jazzy" tones. These ukuleles are made in Java, Indonesia, and benefit from the expertise of the Ko'olau/Pono workshops, true pioneers of the ukulele in Hawaii. The sound offers warm mids, deep lows and crystal clear highs and allows for greater versatility in playing, regardless of style or genre. What is also striking is the dynamic range of this instrument, the notes are clear and full even at very low volumes, which is perfect for fingerstyle playing.  Note that the series has evolved and now offers a full headstock with very reliable Gotoh Planetary tuners, as on the UT3K or UT200 models, which is more convenient to install the strings in my opinion.

The koa produces a full and rich sound in the upper midrange, and does not lack punch and volume. The instrument is incredibly light, the body is not very deep and pleasant to play for long hours. The woods selected are remarkable, and the contrasts in the back are magnificent. The value for money is breathtaking, and this series seems to be spared the minor cosmetic and finishing flaws sometimes found on these Chinese-made ukuleles. The Voyager is a wonderful discovery, and surely our favourite of Flight's Royal series, so it's easily earned its place in our catalogue!

However, the 110 series stands out thanks to its incredibly smooth satin finish, which contrasts with the glossy varnish typically found on other models in this series, and its solid Cuban mahogany construction, which produces a softer, more mellow and jazzy sound.  This series is also called ‘green’ in reference to a green border and rectangle around the ukulele and at the bottom of the body, as well as the very sturdy ‘aNueNue Green Leather Hardshell Case’.
