Previously reserved for the Japanese market, we received these models in Europe under the name Kiwaya and the designation “eco series.” In order to harmonize their offering, they have now decided to distribute the “eco series” in France and Europe under the name “Famous.”  Apart from the label, nothing has changed—it's still a Kiwaya made in Japan!  The body of the instrument is made of "Layered tonewood", and offers exceptional acoustic performance with an impressive, extremely well-balanced volume. Its light weight and extremely precise tuning make this ukulele an addictive instrument to play. Their instruments are made in Indonesia by the Ko'olau parent company, based in Hawaii. Their instruments are arguably in the upper mid-range, all made of solid wood and crafted to Ko'olau's exacting standards. This series is made from solid mango wood, increasingly prized both for its appearance and for the richness of its sound. The overall color is highly contrasting, with little variation from model to model. The satin finish offers a pleasantly soft, silky feel; for those who prefer a gloss finish, the same model is available on the site in gloss finish under the reference: MGCD.  The tone is lively and dynamic, both volume and sustain are excellent, and the sound is projected with a minimum of effort, all due to the resonance created by the lightweight construction.
