Crafted from solid koa, it offers excellent projection with well-defined notes and good dynamic range, equally at home with soft playing or more rhythmic accompaniment. This model differs notably from the KTM-00 Tenor in its satin finish (as opposed to the gloss finish on the KTM-00). This choice is not merely aesthetic: it also influences the sound. The KTM-10 RP produces a slightly more muted, softer and more subdued sound, whilst the KTM-00 offers greater brightness and projection in the treble range. The Royal Pikake design adds an elegant touch without being over the top, and the playing comfort remains true to KoAloha’s reputation: simple, effective and a pleasure to play every day. An interesting model for those looking for a koa tenor with a warm, natural sound and a slightly more understated approach than its gloss-finished counterpart.

Kala's Revelator Night Owl Tenor Ukulele pays homage to British luthier Pete Howlett with this interpretation of his original design; an "acoustic anomaly." The Revelator has been designed to maximise the resonance and vibration of the ukulele top. The thin body and minimal bracing of the top allow the energy and power of the strings to work in concert with the top, producing a clear, articulate sound with a volume and sustain that is truly impressive compared to the thickness of the body. Their instruments are made in Indonesia by the Ko'olau parent company, based in Hawaii. Their instruments are arguably in the upper mid-range, all made of solid wood and crafted to Ko'olau's exacting standards. This series is made from solid mango wood, increasingly prized both for its appearance and for the richness of its sound. The overall color is highly contrasting, with little variation from model to model. The satin finish offers a pleasantly soft, silky feel; for those who prefer a gloss finish, the same model is available on the site in gloss finish under the reference: MGCD.  The tone is lively and dynamic, both volume and sustain are excellent, and the sound is projected with a minimum of effort, all due to the resonance created by the lightweight construction. A very precise instrument, neither bright nor dark, the sound is perfectly versatile and lends itself to all playing styles.
