Kala's Revelator Night Owl Tenor Ukulele pays homage to British luthier Pete Howlett with this interpretation of his original design; an "acoustic anomaly." The Revelator has been designed to maximise the resonance and vibration of the ukulele top. The thin body and minimal bracing of the top allow the energy and power of the strings to work in concert with the top, producing a clear, articulate sound with a volume and sustain that is truly impressive compared to the thickness of the body. The Night Owl rosette is positioned as close as possible to the player's ears, giving instant tonal response. A Solid Acacia top gives a full-bodied, pronounced sound and a rich, varied color. It is a very pleasant instrument, with a nice clear sound, the bass is not too present, it is well balanced.  The weight is a bit heavier than average but nothing too disturbing.  The manufacturing is serious, with a correctness on all the neck and an optimal playing comfort. Note that the wood grain and colour can be very different from one instrument to another.

The mahogany is beautiful, enhanced by elegant black binding and aged metal tuning machines for a vintage feel.  The instrument is light, with a very low action for effortless playing. The sound is rich, with notes that are precise and deep when played melodically, and clear and balanced when played in chords.

The Pinkfloyidian effects are incredible, use sparingly otherwise beware of sea sickness. The aim is clearly stated: to present instruments with a more vintage look and which stand out from their modern models with which they have revolutionized the ukulele market in recent years. However, the DNA of the manufacturer is well and truly there, and we find with delight, an excellent substain, a rich sound in volume with an incredible dynamic. A new fan-shaped baffle equips this series, which brings out the midrange frequencies full of harmonies, and it should also be noted that they are equipped with Gotoh UPT mechanics, which are extremely precise.  The Singer RT1M-TS is made entirely of solid mahogany, with a subtle tobacco sunburst finish that offers a nice brown/red tone gradation. It's the one in the series with the least amount of frills, but the essentials are there. We have the natural warmth of mahogany but also lightness and shine. It develops quite a lot of volume when you strum the strings with a lot of attack but also knows how to be reactive and dynamic in a very soft play. It is versatile and comfortable in all registers.
