The 8-string ukulele plays like a 4-string, but each string is doubled, the G string with a low G and a high G, and the other strings with two identical strings, giving it a more spacious, powerful sound.

This new Lâg collection is surprising and striking! Acoustically, the sound is warm thanks to the solid red cedar top, which is usually found on higher-end models. Their instruments are made in Indonesia by the Ko'olau parent company, based in Hawaii. Their instruments are arguably in the upper mid-range, all made of solid wood and crafted to Ko'olau's exacting standards. This series is made from solid mango wood, increasingly prized both for its appearance and for the richness of its sound. The overall color is highly contrasting, with little variation from model to model. The satin finish offers a pleasantly soft, silky feel; for those who prefer a gloss finish, the same model is available on the site in gloss finish under the reference: MGCD.  The tone is lively and dynamic, both volume and sustain are excellent, and the sound is projected with a minimum of effort, all due to the resonance created by the lightweight construction. A very precise instrument, neither bright nor dark, the sound is perfectly versatile and lends itself to all playing styles.

The neck is slim with a flat profile, and despite its width of 35 cm, the strings are well spaced out and the most complex chords are easy to play. This ukulele is really made for playing arpeggios and picking. It's in the sound that the Tiny Tenor reveals all its splendour, with the mellowness of mango combined with a long sustain. The design of the Tiny Tenor, with a very high rosette that picks up string vibrations where the sound is richest, is profound. The basses, aided by the metal-spun low-g of the Pepe Romero UT-2 strings, are amazingly round yet precise.
