Crafted from solid koa, it offers excellent projection with well-defined notes and good dynamic range, equally at home with soft playing or more rhythmic accompaniment. This model differs notably from the KTM-00 Tenor in its satin finish (as opposed to the gloss finish on the KTM-00). This choice is not merely aesthetic: it also influences the sound. The KTM-10 RP produces a slightly more muted, softer and more subdued sound, whilst the KTM-00 offers greater brightness and projection in the treble range. The Royal Pikake design adds an elegant touch without being over the top, and the playing comfort remains true to KoAloha’s reputation: simple, effective and a pleasure to play every day. An interesting model for those looking for a koa tenor with a warm, natural sound and a slightly more understated approach than its gloss-finished counterpart.

The neck is slim with a flat profile, and despite its width of 35 cm, the strings are well spaced out and the most complex chords are easy to play. This ukulele is really made for playing arpeggios and picking. It's in the sound that the Tiny Tenor reveals all its splendour, with the mellowness of mango combined with a long sustain. The design of the Tiny Tenor, with a very high rosette that picks up string vibrations where the sound is richest, is profound. The basses, aided by the metal-spun low-g of the Pepe Romero UT-2 strings, are amazingly round yet precise. Their instruments are made in Indonesia by the Ko'olau parent company, based in Hawaii. Their instruments are arguably in the upper mid-range, all made of solid wood and crafted to Ko'olau's exacting standards. This series is made from solid mango wood, increasingly prized both for its appearance and for the richness of its sound. The overall color is highly contrasting, with little variation from model to model. The satin finish offers a pleasantly soft, silky feel; for those who prefer a gloss finish, the same model is available on the site in gloss finish under the reference: MGCD.  The tone is lively and dynamic, both volume and sustain are excellent, and the sound is projected with a minimum of effort, all due to the resonance created by the lightweight construction. A very precise instrument, neither bright nor dark, the sound is perfectly versatile and lends itself to all playing styles.

It should also be noted that they are equipped with Gotoh UPT mechanics, which are extremely precise.  This RT5R model in Lemon Sunburst or Cherry Sunburst finish is the closest to the Moon Bird UT-200, with a solid "Swiss Moon" spruce top and Indian rosewood for the back and sides, all surrounded by the highest quality abalone and a brilliant varnish of the most beautiful effect. The sound is superbly crisp and clear, we hear the brightness of the spruce, softened by the darkness of the rosewood. There is a wonderful balance between the bass, midrange and treble. Every note rings like a bell, there is no doubt, you have in your hands a high end instrument, hand made by the luthiers of aNueNue, who once again have done a wonderful job.
