CASA OPINION

The Opio series from KoAloha (a Hawaiian term meaning ‘young’ or ‘junior’) offers all the warmth and sonic power of Hawaiian ukuleles, in a version carefully crafted in Thailand by The Rebel Ukulele.

Made from solid acacia wood, these instruments retain the famous clear, rich and resonant sound that has made KoAloha's reputation, ideal for both accompaniment and melodic playing.

The craftsmanship is exceptional, with a semi-gloss finish that is very pleasant to the touch and offers a ‘better than weather’ guarantee against humidity variations. The playability is also incredible, with low action that requires no effort and impressive projection.

This line aims to offer ‘KoAloha’ quality with greater accessibility. Hawaiian tradition at your fingertips!

The aim is clearly stated: to present instruments with a more vintage look and which stand out from their modern models with which they have revolutionised the ukulele market in recent years. However, the DNA of the manufacturer is well and truly there, and we find with delight, an excellent substain, a rich sound in volume with an incredible dynamic. A new fan-shaped bracing system is fitted to this series, which brings out the midrange frequencies full of harmonies, and it should also be noted that they are equipped with Gotoh UPT mechanics, which are extremely precise.  The Singer RT1K is made entirely of solid Hawaiian koa, grade AA, which provides a clarity where each note stands out from the others for a beautiful articulation. The natural compression of the koa provides a lush, singing acoustic sound that will awaken the happy-strummer in you. Romero Creations Tiny Tenor Mango (pictures of model #24033 with will be sent)  PARTICULAR SIGNS  Tenor    Solid mango top   Solid mango back & sides  Mahogany neck  Ebony bridge & fingerboard  Designed by Pepe Romero & Daniel Ho  Nut width :35 mm  Bone nuts  Pepe Romero US2 strings with Low-G wound  Abalone rosette  High Gloss Finish   Scale Length : 432 mm / 16 frets   Softcase included L'AVIS DE LA CASA  The concept of the Tiny Tenor is to offer you the same pitch and playability of a tenor ukulele but in ultra-compact proportions, thanks in particular to a reduced headstock, body design and bridge location. The neck is slim with a flat profile, and despite its width of 35 cm, the strings are well spaced out and the most complex chords are easy to play. This ukulele is really made for playing arpeggios and picking. It's in the sound that the Tiny Tenor reveals all its splendour, with the mellowness of mango combined with a long sustain. The design of the Tiny Tenor, with a very high rosette that picks up string vibrations where the sound is richest, is profound. The basses, aided by the metal-spun low-g of the Pepe Romero UT-2 strings, are amazingly round yet precise. It's all a question of balance, and Romero Creations have found the recipe!  The mango wood often varies considerably from one model to another, so please feel free to ask for photos of the models in stock.

We've never seen an abalone pearl inlay on a ukulele top before - it's magical! There's a wisdom that emanates from this "The voyage collection" series designed by artist Sam Mangakahia. Each engraving evokes strong symbols of Maori culture. These ukuleles look great. The sound, meanwhile, is quite respectable and remains the same as that found in their laminated mahogany models like the KA-15T.

Kala Revelator Night Owl Acacia Tenor Ukulele PARTICULAR SIGNS  Tenor  Acacia top   Okoume body   Okoume neck  Florentine cutaway style  Rosewood fingerboard  Bone nut & saddle   Passive piezo pick-up  Sacle length :  437 mm / 22 frets   Aquila Nylgut strings  Gloss finish  Gig bag included  CASA OPINION Building on the success of the 2023 release of The Revelator™ Nautilus Ukulele, Kala Brand Music Co. expands on this revelation of innovative design and aesthetics. Kala's Revelator Night Owl Tenor Ukulele pays homage to British luthier Pete Howlett with this interpretation of his original design; an "acoustic anomaly." The Revelator has been designed to maximise the resonance and vibration of the ukulele top. The thin body and minimal bracing of the top allow the energy and power of the strings to work in concert with the top, producing a clear, articulate sound with a volume and sustain that is truly impressive compared to the thickness of the body. The Night Owl rosette is positioned as close as possible to the player's ears, giving instant tonal response. A Solid Acacia top gives a full-bodied, pronounced sound and a rich, varied color. The neck is machined to perfection and blends into the body with a seamless transition that allows the player easy access to its 22 frets. The built-in passive pickup is very good, and whether plugged into an amp specially designed for acoustic instruments or directly into a console, the sound is well-balanced and pleasant. Each Revelator® Night Owl comes with a deluxe logo-padded carry case.

Luthier with the arrival of the ‘Le Sand’ and ‘Sand Tenor’ models. These two ukuleles stand out thanks to their double solid cedar and mahogany top. The deep warmth of the mahogany combines with the lively tone of the cedar to offer a remarkably rich and expressive sound. Other new features include an abalone binding and Japanese Gotoh machine heads, renowned for their exceptional precision. For the rest, all the ingredients that have made L. Luthier's reputation are there: impeccable craftsmanship, perfect tonal balance, remarkable accuracy, smooth playability across the entire neck, and a highly refined pickup that is close to perfection. However, the 110 series stands out thanks to its incredibly smooth satin finish, which contrasts with the glossy varnish typically found on other models in this series, and its solid Cuban mahogany construction, which produces a softer, more mellow and jazzy sound.  This series is also called ‘green’ in reference to a green border and rectangle around the ukulele and at the bottom of the body, as well as the very sturdy ‘aNueNue Green Leather Hardshell Case’. Cuban mahogany is a rare wood with impressive acoustic properties. Combined with their new lattice bracing, it develops a wide sound palette with mellow bass and precise, clear trebles. It is a versatile instrument, with sublime arpeggio playing in line with what this fantastic manufacturer has been offering us for several years, and warm, dynamic strumming that subtly evokes vintage sounds.   aNueNue offers a model that is as classy in appearance as it is in sound, with a quality of craftsmanship that continues to surprise us.
