It has a very high pitched sound, it is normally played with a very rhythmic and fast left hand strumming, often with a pick. It is easy to do solos in common tones like C or Am because the mi string sounds louder than the rest, just move this second string by continuing the fast strumming. The strings are fishing threads, on the Tahitian style, they all have the same diameter of 0.45 mm and on the 6-string hybrids, they are different: 0.70, 0.80 and 1 mm.  It was a while ago that, we were looking to enrich our catalog of Tahitian ukulele, we had the opportunity to meet Victor Joffre, founder of the brand ASONU, based in Chile. We were convinced by his knowledge of the instrument and his mastery of the manufacturing process, his ukuleles are a reference in the field and are world-famous.  These are magnificent ukuleles, with unique shapes, the size is between a concert and a tenor with a 415mm scale length, the sound is dynamic with a lot of projection. The koa produces a full and rich sound in the upper midrange, and does not lack punch and volume. This Arete model is a limited edition of 6, and we're delighted to be able to offer you one in our shop. Everything about it is singular, starting with the slightly pear-shaped body we've never seen before. The soundboard is a blend of mango and spalted mahogany with a simply sublime crescent-moon rosette contour. The sides are in mango and the back in Indian rosewood. The headstock is finely carved, and the Gotoh Stealth double-tone machine heads add even more character. This model is inspired by Greek philosophy. Arete" is a Greek concept meaning "excellence of every kind". The term can also refer to excellence in "moral virtue", the fulfillment of a goal or function: living up to one's potential. A person of arete is of maximum efficiency: he uses all his faculties - strength, bravery and spirit - to achieve concrete results. In the Homeric world, arete implies all the abilities and potentialities available to human beings. This breathtaking beauty doesn't detract from the incredible resonance and depth of sound this ukulele is capable of producing. A rich, consistent sound with plenty of roundness.
