Previously reserved for the Japanese market, we received these models in Europe under the name Kiwaya and the designation “eco series.” In order to harmonize their offering, they have now decided to distribute the “eco series” in France and Europe under the name “Famous.”  Apart from the label, nothing has changed—it's still a Kiwaya made in Japan!  The body of the instrument is made of "Layered tonewood", and offers exceptional acoustic performance with an impressive, extremely well-balanced volume. Its light weight and extremely precise tuning make this ukulele an instrument with addictive playability. Kiwaya has a long history as a ukulele manufacturer, which makes this Eco series different from and above other ukuleles in the same price range.

(We...it's the sound!), so simple and uncluttered are the construction and design that focus on the essentials: a rich, deep and balanced sound. Mahogany has been used to make ukuleles for over a century. It offers warm, mellow tones, and may not be suitable when you want a bright, sharp sound, but so beautiful in "jazzy" tones. These ukuleles are made in Java, Indonesia, and benefit from the expertise of the Ko'olau/Pono workshops, true pioneers of the ukulele in Hawaii. Initially intended for the Portuguese cavaquinho, APC responded favourably to the request of La Casa de Ukulele™ to decline these designs, on concert and soprano ukuleles. This is a vivid and beautifully imperfect handmade paint and engraving job, which has nothing to do with a sanitized and standardized industrial decoration. The solid acacia wood delivers a harmonious sound, with beautiful, full and true notes all along the neck. Made by APC in Portugal.

Classic and timeless, the pineapple shape is in the purest Hawaiian tradition. After comparing it at length with the standard version (the KSM-00 soprano), we found them to be extremely similar, but we perceive more pep and projection in this model. As you know, each instrument is unique, and in any case, two ukuleles of the same model will never sound exactly the same, especially at this level of perfection. A good reason to come visit us :) Also, the sound is extraordinary, rich, deep, and bright. We are thrilled, and you will be too. The specifications remain the same; only the item numbers have changed. This ukulele is a beautiful tribute to vintage Martin ukuleles! The wood grain of the Fidji mahogany is splendid, the whiskers on the bottom of the body and the double purfling on the fingerboard contribute to the natural elegance of this model. In rhythmic and nervous playing the chords will keep their clarity and in fingerpicking each note will sound like crystal.
